“Agony and Ecstasy in the Pursuit of Creativity in Education, Humanities and the Sciences”



Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Ibrahim Ahmad Bajunid is the President of the Malaysian Association for Education (MAE), Malaysian Council for Educational Management and Leadership, and Director of IAB Global (Inspiring Authentic Benevolence). He was the Deputy Vice Chancellor INTI-Laureate International Universities and a Professor of Management, Education and the Social Sciences. Dr. Ibrahim was Director of the Regional Centre for Educational Planning, United Arab Emirates, Professor of Management, Leadership and Policy Studies and the Founding Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at University Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR) and former Director of Institut Aminuddin Baki (IAB) - The National Institute of Educational Management and Leadership. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the Institute of Strategic and International Studies, Distinguished Associate of the Institute of Educational Leadership, Consultant, Centre for Civilizational Dialogue, University of Malaya and Senior Fellow, Universiti Islam Malaysia. Since he began his career, he involved himself in contributions to the trade union and professional organization-non-governmental movements. He exercised the roles of Chairman, Secretary, Deputy President in the National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) and the Congress of Unions of the Public and Civil Services (CUEPACS). He was the President and Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Human Resource, Past President and Fellow of the Asia Pacific Educational Research Association, Council Member of the World Educational Research Association (WERA), Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Educational Administration, and Advisory Board Member of the Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change, Hong Kong Institute of Education, Honorary Lifelong Advisor to Exploring Leadership and Learning Theories in Asia (ELLTA). He is acknowledged as the leading figure who has been advancing in the field of educational leadership and educational capacity building. He is Member of the Asia Leadership Roundtable Group (ALR) and Jury Member for the UNESCO-Wen Hui Awards for Educational Innovations in Asia. His writing contributions encompass, educational thought, life long, life wide and perpetual learning, family and societal development, character development and integrity, high order cognitive competencies, teaching-  learning, educational research, the quest for virtues, and pursuit of wisdom, educational criticism and connoisseurship. He continues to contribute through governmental and voluntary organizations, writings in academia and mass media, public presence as keynote speaker, and member of Think Tanks. His newspaper column As I Wander continues for many years.  In 2016, he was also awarded the Outstanding National Educator Award and the Malaysian Literary Award in the Essay/Literary Critic Category (Hadith Sastera Perdana Malaysia 2014). He has supervised Masters and Doctoral Degree Students and has written several hundred academic and general articles. He is the recipient of the National Educational Leadership Award, the highest Educational Leadership Award in Malaysia awarded only to a few individuals who have demonstrated distinguished and exemplary leadership across institutional, national and international contexts. In addition, for his leadership and contributions to the profession and society at the national and international levels, he was awarded the Honorary Doctorates by the Education University of Malaysia, the University of Malaya and the National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia). He is Member of Board of Governors of the Sultan Idris Education University, Panel Member of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency,   Member of the Global Wisdom Project, Universiti Islam Malaysia, Visiting and Adjunct Professor at a number of Universities, Member of Academic Board of the Razak School of Government, and Board Member of the National Institute of Integrity (IIM) and, Member, Committee for Global Religious Understanding and Harmony, National Unity Department.

Speaker : Prof. Dato’ Dr. Sohaimi bin Abdul Aziz

Professor Dato’ Dr. Sohaimi Abdul Aziz has been a lecturer in the School of Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia since 1995 and in 2011 he was appointed as a Professor of literary and media studies. Teaching has been part of his life since he was trained as a school teacher at Sultan Idris Training College, Tanjung Malim, Perak in 1979/80. As a Professor, he has written scholarly essays , chapters in books and more than 20 books. He has produced doctorate graduates from inside and outside the country such as Indonesia and Iran. His books also received a good academic awards such as Southeast Asia Literary Prize (MASTERA) for his renowned book entitled The Phenomenology. Applied to the work of A. Samad Said. His latest book is Theory and Criticism of Literature. Second Edition. (2014). Recently he has edited a book entitle Literature and Education. The Importance of Literature in Creative Industri (2016). He has also conducted numerous research from local, national and international grants. Internationally, Professor Sohaimi has presented research papers in countries such, United States, Britain, South Africa, Australia, Spain, Germany, Italy, Holland, China, Japan, Thailand and Indonesia. Professor Sohaimi isalso an active activist in many local Non-Governmental Organization in Penang.



Speaker : Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Zainul Fithri Othman

Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohd Zainul Fithri Dato’ Othman was appointed as the Vice President/Deputy Vice Chancellor of Industrial Linkages & Students Career Development at Management & Science University (MSU) since 2003. Continue in developing his professional career, he then decided to do industrial attachment at Puncak Niaga Holdings Berhad as an Executive Director of the Strategic Resource and Public Relations Division in 2014.

Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohd Zainul Fithri Dato’ Othman holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and International Relations, BSc. from Oregon State University, Corvallis, United States, 1988 and a Master of Arts (MA) in International Relations (Security and International Political Economy) from University of Hull, United Kingdom, 1990. He also holds a Ph.D in Global Political Economy from University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, 1994.

Professor Glenda Crosling is Head of the Centre for Educational Research at Sunway University, and Adjunct Associate Professor, Office of Deputy Provost (Learning and Teaching) at Monash University Australia. She contributes to academic excellence and quality internationally as chair and member, MQA Expert Panels for national guidelines, Register of Experts, Australian Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency, and external reviewer, Oman Academic Accreditation Authority. Her publications address educational enhancement, student diversity, policy and curriculum development, and student assessment. She has authored and edited books and chapters, and published in key academic journals. She is a member and reviewer for international editorial boards, has been invited keynote and plenary speaker at international conferences, and visiting professor in universities in China, Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore.
